Marbles quail water. You can also buy a special quail water feeder at your local pet or bird store. Young quail can drown in watering containers so consider putting a mesh over it or adding marbles to keep them from being able to be submerged in the water. Be sure to put marbles in your water bowls so the quail don t drown and keep food easy to reach for their tiny little legs. For the first three days use a 100 watt bulb to help the chicks find feed and water.
I fed the button quail chicks gamebird starter. Make sure that the chicks cannot drown in the water container and have easy access to it. Provide clean freshwater daily. Quail poop has ammonia in it and can become stinky. You may want to place clean marbles or gravel in the bottom of the water bowl for a week or two so that the chicks can get a drink without falling in or getting wet and cold. You might need to use a lid from a reusable food container or a small tray till they get big enough to reach a regular sized chick feeder. Their cages should be washed down and dried poop cleaned up.
